Every year, my girls have participated in the local small town (Vernon) Ghost Walk. Thanks to a very cool drama teacher (Mrs. Jarboe) both girls have acted in some pretty weird shows and they love it!
Since I only have one baby in High School….this year was a little bit sad. I love seeing my kids do their creative genius. Now that Ally is “all grown up” it’s Gates job to entertain the family. Oh the pressure! 😉
She’s got it covered!
The cool thing about this night (actually it’s 2 nights every October) is that you get to tour several “spooky” stories. If you can imagine sitting around a campfire telling ghost stories, this is almost like that. The tour begins at the town’s historical society building. In this building, every little piece of history from the town of Vernon is lovingly stored. Volunteers decorate with a Halloween theme and pull out any old “stories/tales” that have been passed around to share scare the visitors.
Here is hubby & our boy before the “fortune teller” told them some cocka-mamie prediction. We’re still laughing about her — Whaaaaa?
See the looks on their faces? Yea, that’s kind of how we feel about dabbling in fortune telling. WE ARE NOT DABBLERS!! And she was an ACTOR!
Once you finish at the historical building, tour guides walk you around the dark old town to “stations” with actors re-enacting an old story/tale. It’s really a fun way to enjoy the fall air and see the high school drama kids show off their talent. For $3.00!
Gates and her friends were the last show on the tour. By the time you get to the end….you’re shivering and ready to run back to the historical building for the hot chocolate/apple cider and snacks. Which are yummy–of course!
Gates is playing the mother of three lovely girls (Oh, how befitting) and one of them is a werewolf! But they don’t know it….yet!
Looks like mama is figuring out her life is in danger. Run, Gates run!
Here’s the star posing with some audience members (aka- College sis & Bestie home from Xavier). Not being partial, but I think they saved the best for last. Gates and her classmates rocked it! They did a great job portraying a twisted up family. hehe!
NOTE: The event is all about raising money to support the Vernon Historical Society Building. It’s done in fun. Not to push an evil agenda. Halloween doesn’t have to be all about wicked stuff. {My opinion}
