Don’t Be That Guy

While every other fine human is out doing their good deeds for mankind; collecting food & toys for the less fortunate, feeding the hungry, tipping $$$ at pizza joints….playing secret Santa – I’m over here all wrapped up in my own selfish desires!

I JUST WANT EVERYONE TO GET ALONG AND BE NICE!

Yea, it’s Christmas time and I’m completely absorbed with my own happiness. Maybe you are too. I mean, really. Holidays come jam-packed with expectations. Everyone has an agenda. Some want prezzies. Some want fun family time. Some JUST WANT TO BE A JERK!

If that’s you, boo..dude!

I can only speak for myself. I look forward to the time I have with my family at holidays. I anticipate it more than anything. I had no idea how much I would treasure the time spent with my kids. But, together doesn’t always equal happy. Sometimes, people are grouchy. Or mad. Or just not on their best game.

Last year, I was in the middle of an all out attack from satan. My beautiful house was destroyed on Christmas eve by a burst water pipe. It was a moment frozen in my brain FOREVER! Never underestimate the power of a flooded foyer, living room and guest bath. It will bring out YOUR WORST! I full-on acted like a jerk!

I think I deserved to go a little crazy.

Maybe you understand….

Let me assure you (whomever you are)…YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE CRAZY EMOTIONS! If you’re dreading time with your family because of all the ups & downs that come with every single personality – YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Each of us have the capacity to engage our 15 minutes of fame crazy. Don’t let it be you!

Here’s my tips to survive it:

1. BE JOYFILLED

When the people around you decide to kill your vibe, smile and encourage them with a positive.

2. BE PATIENT

When, not IF your biggest button gets pushed, step on the gas of your back-up attitude. Remember, it’s only for a short time. It’s not like you’re all moving in together. 🙂

3. BE FORGIVING

Someone is going to tick you off, hurt your feelings, get on your last nerve and probably act like a total jerk to you. So, go ahead and decide to forgive them. No, they don’t deserve it…but neither do you or me! Just do it.

4. BE THANKFUL

Your life (if it’s anything like mine) is wonderful. You have so much to be thankful for. Remembering that and living that way opens your heart and attitude up to a whole lot of joy. You won’t be able to contain it, I promise.

It’s the season to show love, feel love and be love. When life or circumstances come at you full-throttle, BE PREPARED!!
