It’s On!

November 4th, 2008

Oh yea, Americans!  IT’S ON!  Today is the day we’ve all been praying would hurry up and get over with.  I hope you’ve gone out and done your part.  Every single vote counts!  By tonight we will all be listening to the tv bobbing heads blasting the presidential candidates and their peeps for all they shoulda and coulda done.

It is going to be a fight!  I pray the right man comes out on top!  For the sake of our country……we all must pray for the outcome.  As a Christian voter, I want to honor God first and foremost with my selection.  I will assure you that I will be voting with the value’s I feel closest resemble my God’s values.  While there are no perfect candidates, there are lines that I will not cross.

I will not vote for a person that supports late term abortion (and all that it entails)  Read this for more information.  I will not vote for a person that is closely linked to someone who participated in hate crimes against my country (and is proudly standing by his radical behavior!!).  Nope, not gonna do it!  I will not vote for a person that has family living in squalor while his own family lives the lifestyle of the rich and famous! 1 Tim. 5:8 “If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” I will not vote for a person that sits under the leadership of a “minister” that preaches hate and filth and calls it CHRISTIANITY! Oh no, no, no I won’t!

Those are just a few reasons…..there are a multitude more that I haven’t even scratched the surface. Fellow believer’s, it’s time to do the right thing! The list above does not line up with the God of my heart nor the Word that I study and cling to. We should be pounding on heaven’s doors that God blesses our country with a president that will bring Him honor and glory for the next four years.
I’m one follower that will be knocking!

BOOK GIVEAWAY!

   Book Giveaway Carnival

Yes, friends it is yet another giveaway here at Queenie’s Little Kingdom.  I had such a great time last week during the great Bloggy Giveaway Carnival that I just had to jump in on this contest too.  Actually, I had already decided to do this book giveaway before the Bloggy Giveaway got rolling.  So, if you are a reader (and you must be if you’re out in bloggyville) and you would like a sweet prize of a FREEBIE book then enter here!

I think everyone has experienced something that has transformed their lives in a good way.  Books are like that.  They can take you to places your budget would never allow.  They can also warm your heart and sharpen your brain.  The three books I’ve selected to give away are all life enriching.  So, three lucky winners will have a chance to win on Nov. 9th.

The first one, The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman…changed my marriage.  I had no idea hubby and I were speaking a different language until God led me to this wonderful book.  Everyone must read this, married or not.  It’s an eye-opener to better-ing your relationships.

Second, The Five Love Languages of Teenagers by Gary Chapman…..changed the way I treat and love my children.  As a mama, I thought I knew my kids best.  But this book opens up a whole new world of understanding your particular kid.

Lastly, Revolve’s Psalms & Proverbs Biblezine by Thomas Nelson publishers.  This little gem is a great way to read the Bible and learn important facts in a fun way.  Girls eat this up!  It has beauty tips/secrets, tips for getting involved in community projects, quiz Q & A’s, and lots more.  These make great gifts for teen girls.

Leave me a comment and consider yourself entered to win!  Goodluck!  Contest will run Nov. 3rd-9th.

It Ain’t Over Yet!

November 1st, 2008

If you are a little anxious about Tuesday’s election then you’re in the same boat as me. I am very concerned for our country. I’m not a political junkie or a radical…but we have a lot at stake with the direction of this election. So many people are very misinformed. All we can do is pray and trust our Heavenly Father with the results. He is, afterall, still on His throne! Thank you Mighty King!

Remember on Tuesday, you have a voice and if you don’t use that voice someone else’s voice will be louder. Speak up and do your part in electing our new president. I can’t tell you how thankful I am for a president that openly loves the same God as me. No one is perfect in this world including our leaders. But for you and for me we have the comfort in knowing the man who’s been leading the greatest nation in all the world loves Jesus Christ and isn’t ashamed to say it. Thank you President Bush for not being ashamed of the gospel while serving our country faithfully. Your job is not one I covet for myself or anyone else in my family, ever!

God Bless the USA!

Don’t Be A Hater

October 30th, 2008

Have you ever had a job you hated? I have. Every single day, I dreaded going in. I could find reason after reason for not being able to work. Who wants an employee like that? I would have to say nobody. Luckily for me, I have a job I really love. But lately I’ve been so tired that I feel like I’m spinning my wheels. Maybe it’s the weather changing or my getting older that’s the problem. Whatever it is…..I am pooped!

Tonight my brain is buzzing…..that’s how tired I am. I started thinking about Solomon. He was a wise dude. He had it all….there was nothing he was in want of. But he also felt unsatisfied at times. In Ecclesiastes, he lays it all out there. A time for this a time for that. Everything is meaningless, pleasures and wisdom. All that we do…..none of it can even come close to comparing with God.

All that we stress out about, every little worry. None of it matters. What does matter is that we live a life that is satisfying to Christ. All the hard work we toil and struggle with in our jobs (that’s never going to bring a true satisfaction). Until we learn (like Solomon did) that we do not find happiness in our jobs, people, stuff, going places and living the good life….we will continue to feel miserable and disatisfied. I don’t know about you…but I want to live a satisfied life. I don’t want to be a hater. I want to live at peace…and rest in His hands. I’m learning to live contently and let God control His world and ME! How about you?

Ecclesiastes 2:17 “So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun is grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

The Baby Star!

October 29th, 2008

With all the hoopla over those older two teeny boppers. I am proud to announce the baby of the family has hit the show scene with her first choir concert of the school year. Woohoo, go Miss Gates! Her director is fresh out of college and in her first year of teaching…..so let’s just say, her energy is amazing! She’s creative and talented like nobody’s business. Last night’s show proved to the standing room only crowd (they ran out of seating way before the concert even began!) that Mrs. Thompson can “bring it”! It was THE BEST choir show I’ve attended at that school in the five years I’ve had a child perform there. BRAVO!

Una Voce (Gates show choir group) performed the opening number, THRILLER! It was fantastic! They even had the choreography down……pat! Each student had on dark clothing with white painted faces (you know the Halloween theme and all). Everyone looked the same. Except you can’t hide a Galloway girl thanks to their wild hair. I had a little mix-up at first. Another girl had curled her hair and looked a little bit like Gates….me old eyes had to adjust a little, why with the fog machine blowing in all that fake smoke….I was having to blink and look again! They were incredible! Way to go, Una Voce (One voice in Italian)!

Gates had a little solo moment while singing with Una Voce, the song Transylvania Mania. I have a quick picture of her at the microphone. She was there and gone in a flash! But she sounded great. The Ballad of Sweeney Todd was another amazing song choice. These kids sounded much more mature than 8th grade. I’m telling you…..it was an impressive night.

As a mama, I can’t be more proud of my kids. This night belonged to Gates! You really are a cool kid, Miss Gates. We love you and are so proud of you. It’s not always easy to follow behind two really awesome siblings….but you do it very well. God bless you for paving your own way in this world and pointing those around you to Jesus. Wow! You’re awesome girl! 🙂

At the end of the concert….guess who came in to swoop up the crowd with their mad skillz? Yep, Touch of Class (Gavin’s hot-shot group from the high school). They were dressed thug/gangsta and performed, IM’MA SHINE! It was great! These kids…..all of them…rocked the house. This was really my favorite choir show yet. I have a few clips. I hope they give a little taste of the energy that was in the room. Enjoy!
