blog-hop-party

I’m all about a party! Who doesn’t know that about me? Huh? Nobody that’s who! Last year when I started blogging (OH MY GOSH! IT’S BEEN A YEAR!! T O D A Y!!!) and hopping around in the blogosphere….everywhere I turned, someone was talking about BlogHer 08 conference. It seemed so exciting! I fantasized about being a part of it someday. Still do. Maybe one of these summer’s!?!

Anywho, Robin over at Pensieve has come up with a handy little party idea. Everyone that loves to blog but can’t be cool enough to partycipate at BlogHer 09 can still live it up with fellow bloggers at a Blog Hop! Pretty brilliant, huh? I know, I’m psyched! Oh, and there will even be prizes, ya’ll! Can I get a yahoo? Oh yea!

Thanks, Robin! I’m so excited to participate with the many fantastic bloggers that I know will be there. I hope to make many new friends!
See ya tonight!

I gotta go! It’s my blogaversary! I’ve got to get something spiffy up here! Yay me!

PS
Join me friends! It’s going to be fun! Be sure to read the instructions to play along over at Robin’s post.

Yea, I’m ticked!

Oh I try! I really try, ya’ll! I try very hard to always honor God with my posts here on this blog-o-mine. But today, I’m really angry! I’m super frustrated…..and since I have my own little space of ranting here….I’m doing just that! So, please…. if you are easily offended, or if you find me rude, ungrateful or just bitter—please forgive me in advance. I really am a nice person and I would do just about anything to help another person out. Really, I would. But, I’m going to do a bit of ranting here…and I’m going to address it to the one’s that matter in the situation.

Look away if you feel it necessary! I won’t mind!

Dear Starbucks,

I love your coffee! I get so excited whenever I see your green logo sign anywhere, anytime of the day. My heart goes pitter-patter at just the thought of one of your yummy drinks or baked goodies. I’m also the mother of 3 teenagers that love your “stuff” as does my husband. So if you’re a smart marketing type company (like obviously you are) then you realize that my one little ole family of five can drop a lotta ole bucks down at one of your storefronts with one tiny visit! What does all that mean? That when I stop and shop with you……I spend a chunk of moola$!$!

For the last few weeks, the big buzz out in the world of bloggers, Facebook and the like has been about July 21st “Free Pastry Day”! We were so excited! We joined the Facebook group and shared the good news with all of our friends. We made big plans to be at Starbucks on the morning of July 21st come rain or shine! It was a big deal! Even though it was JUST a pastry, for goodness sakes! It’s not like you were giving away a $5 dollar Frappi! It was a stinking scone or danish that maxed out cost less than $2 bucks! So….come on! We were set! More reason for us to love you, dear Starbuck friends. More reason!

This morning, my two teen daughter’s and I drove over an hour into the big city of Indianapolis to the airport (one of my girls had a flight to catch) with coupon dreams in our oversized purses to redeem upon our arrival. This was also going to be “breakfast”! When we stepped up to order our $5 drinks and free pastry…..the sweet barista behind the counter told us that they were NOT honoring that offer. Huh? What? Where exactly was that little small print message? Oh….it was nowhere that’s where! So there we stood….HUNGRY and EMBARRASSED!!!! Why you ask? Because, we looked like the pathetic ones! As if we were begging for free food at the airport! How dare us!

So very smart of you, Starbucks! Because my girls wanted their drinks and their food. I bought it! You are fantastic marketing guru’s! I felt really aggrevated after all that anticipation and planning. Then, I felt like you stuck it to me, Starbucks! Yea, I know it was “free” food (which is a GIFT). Duh! I know that! It’s the way it was all hyped up to be this big deal for Starbuck’s lover’s. That was such a scam! It felt like trickery! I’m a bit more than just frustrated! I’m bordering back and forth on bitterness really! You stink!

Today, I spent over $15 in your store. But you can bet your sweet biffy…..it was my last! I’m over you, Starbucks….I mean Scambucks!

I don’t HEART you anymore!

SO LONG, SUCKERS!

SO LONG, SUCKERS!

Sincerely
Wanda Galloway

Ps. I’m telling all of my BFF’s about my distaste for you and what a let-down your offer was. Boo hiss, Sbucks!

He’s official!

Here’s my boy! One of the newest students to join the ranks of college freshman at IU! Today was exciting as he met with counselors and talked with student leaders about his future plans at college. He has his fall schedule complete and his student i.d. Now, it’s time to start collecting everything he’s going to need to move in. Oh and buy his books!

Take a look at some of the cool stuff he brought home from a very intensive two day orientation. He’s IU’d up!

IU Freshman Orientation

It’s been a long day! We woke up bright and early (5:50am)…showered and shaved for our departure time of 7:00am. Headed to the great Btown (Bloomington to Indiana peeps) for some freshman college orientation. Which really means…..lots of walking, waiting, listening, walking, waiting, and listening some more….and still have tons of unanswered questions. So goes the process! πŸ™‚

We were herded here and shuttled there….and I didn’t know where I was half of the time. But my Sweetboy? He was figuring out that campus like a pro! He’s going to love it there. I think he already does. He wasn’t feeling so well….he had some testing to do and took his medicine which he hasn’t had in months. That set him up to feel weird. Poor dude! He said the tests were easy peasy! Much like Istep tests here in Indiana (our standardized public school tests).

We opted to come on back home and sleep in our own fantastic bed tonight. Gavin stayed there on campus with an unknown fellow student, aka the roommate! He hadn’t gotten to meet him while we were there but called not too long ago and let us know he was “nice”. What’s nice? Is that, he’s not a serial killer? Or a professional kidnapper disguised as a young freshman dude getting oriented at college? How and what is nice? I’m just sayin. Mama’s have so many questions. Oh, I tease! I’m sure he is nice.

Here’s some living proof that we were there. Hope you get a glimpse of how beautiful the campus is. The weather was incredible! Very cool and sunny! Sorta felt like fall. We head back in the morning for the final deal. Look at dorms, meet with counselors, decide on schedule and find out the $$ money sit-chee-ashun! We are so happy for our boy. We wish him the best as he embarks on the coolest time in his life!

We’ve gone Ebay

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Oh the joy! It’s been exciting here. We’ve been working on selling some “treasures” on Ebay. We have a gazillion dollars worth of American Girl Doll paraphernalia around here. Nobody seems to care about it anymore. It was absolutely loved and cherished several years back. But something happens to those feelings during puberty. They either get more sappy sentimental or fall into the “who cares” category. For my girls, it was a mixture. They still love the stuff….but don’t feel like hanging on to it. They’d rather have money! πŸ™‚

Ally has worked so hard in putting everything on to sell. She is quite the marketing kind of gal. She will definitely be a money-maker lady someday. She has a great gift. I hope she reaps the reward she’s hoping for and more. This will be her school clothes money for this year. It’s come to that. Finances are tight……no…..squeeky screamy tight! We have to be creative or do without! I know God will bless. He always does!

Doing this little selling project has inspired me. I’m looking around my house for something to put up for sale myself. Goodness knows, I have enough useless stuff laying around here. I’ll let you know if I do it and if I make any money to get excited about. Before I go, here’s a shot of something she’s offering on her list. It is so cute!

Meet Angelina Ballerina and her kit of goodies! Still in original boxes and in fantastic shape.

This here’s the only hesitation item! It’s Coconut……and Ally absolutely loves him to death. She prays he doesn’t sell!
