Running just to catch myself

traffic
I can tell school is back in full swing! This morning…..I overslept! I went to bed exhuasted and it was only Tuesday. Both mornings (Mon & Tues) we sat through 3-4 redlights on our way to school. Which doesn’t mean we were at 3-4 different redlights…..we sat through them at ONE LIGHT!

Traffic in my small town on school mornings is like L.A. freeway traffic. The highway 50 parking lot is what we call it here. I live behind the schools but must travel down a city street and then on a highway to actually drive there. Walking is less than 8 minutes.

Why don’t I walk it? Good question. I have 2 teen girls and we haul tons of junk with us. More than any of us want to walk up the hill carrying to school each morning and afternoon.

So we drive! And sit in traffic!

My clock/radio is set to the sweet sounds of Klove each morning as my alarm clock. Uhhh that didn’t work out so well this morning. Somehow the station was OFF THE AIR! When did I notice that? Oh….around 7:24am!!! Not cool!

I jumped up and screamed!

And I was having the sweetest dream too. I was having a party! We were decorating with beautiful flowers and potted plants. Then I opened my eyes and it looked very bright out……AAAAAAHHHH 7:24?

Goodbye Wednesday! I won’t miss you!

Tomorrow night…..we’re heading to the INDIANAPOLIS COLTS game! Woohoo! Now that’s exciting! 🙂

don-staph-infection-002b

First off. If you are one that cannot handle icky stuff……such as gross body wounds, LOOK AWAY!

Do NOT continue reading this post!

Hubby has been limping around for a few weeks with a “boo-boo” on his right leg. At first, he was just scratching it a bit. He thought something bit him and it was possibly a little infected. He rubbed some antibiotic ointment on it and took a few oral antiobotics (we always seem to have extra’s around). And it sort of felt better…for a few days.

This weekend, he was really hurting! He stayed in bed all day Saturday, ALL DAY! He was sick! By Sunday…he was gimping around like the leg was about to fall off. The swelling was back and really festered up…as if…well, you can imagine….right?

I said, “Go see the doctor!”. This has gone on for more weeks than it should have. Plus, ewww! It’s really grossing me out!

He sent me a text today that he was in the doctor’s office and they were seriously concerned. He would keep me posted throughout the possible amputation (yea, he’s funny like that).

By 6:30-7:00pm he calls and says he’s on his way home. He has something inserted in the wound….which is staphylococcus and mersa related. Remember mersa?

What we thought was possibly a spider bite…..is no spider bite! This thing is nasty!

The doctor numbed the area, sliced an opening and did some poking around in there. He placed a very long tape-like object inside the wound…part of it sticks out. Hubby says…..it’s like 9 inches in actual length. Eww! I’m really not into grossness!

I have some photos……I thought it was probably important that we start documenting this dude. Please pray for him to heal. This is very serious….nothing to fool around with.

I warned you….

Seriously people……I told you look away!

I’m flexible!

Really, I am.

That’s my job!

Go here…cover this, watch that.

I’m a substitute. Well, I used to be. Until my job took a major change this year. I’m the sophomore math remediation teacher now.

But….

That will have to wait. I’m in the freshman principal’s office covering for his secretary.

Another encounter with the sting of death. I’m praying for Mrs. M and her family as they go through the motions of losing a husband, father & grandfather.

God….we cannot know the path. Only you can. Help us to follow with faith.
Amen

My last day of freedom

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Yea, it’s over! My summer break is kaput! Gone! Nada! History!
I’m so very sad! It is hard saying goodbye to the freedom of sleeping in and lounging around in jammies as long as I want. Oh the memories.

I spent it working like a mad dog around my house too. It was piled high with laundry, dishes and just messes everywhere. I even washed my gigantic car (mainly because my windshield was so grody…I couldn’t see out of it!). So when I went to wash my windshield..I realized I haven’t washed the filthy beast in ….I don’t know how long. It was disgusting!

Tonight was our school’s first freshman induction. Our campus has undergone a huge building transformation. All last year, we spent under construction. It was a bit of a hassle. But, the results were a beautiful new wing (just for our freshman). It looks amazing! Gates will only have 3 classes in that wing….the rest are all over the high school building. Which is quite large. Poor kid….she’s gonna need comfy shoes. 🙂

Anyway….I’m going to be doing a new job too. That makes me a little nervous. I will be teaching a Math remediation class (so I’ll have my own room). The curriculum will be computer based and the classes should consist of sophomores that have either made a D or an F in their last year Algebra class.

Have I mentioned here….HOW MUCH I DESPISE MATH? Oh really, I haven’t? Well…..let’s just say……MATH IS THE DEVIL!!! I would rather do just about anything than be responsible for any young mind bettering their math skills. What are my principal’s thinking? God bless them! They sure tried to encourage me.

So, here’s hoping!

It’s going to be fine. I’m just terribly intimidated! Call me weak! I don’t care. But please……..PRAY FOR MEEEEEEEEE!

Happy first day……

Words seem so meaningless

Monday, August 10th, 2009

I shared in my waterpark post about the terrible accident on our way home.  My family and I could not shake the scene from our hearts.  While we were several cars back…..the enormous amount of emergency vehicles told us that it was very bad.  It bothered everyone in our car.

The next night I decided to try and find out what had happened.  The location was 2 counties over from where we live in Indiana, so we don’t get any news from that area.  After searching all over the internet…..I finally found an article on it.  A 17 year old girl lost control of her car coming down the hill and hit the guardrail then crossed over and hit another car head-on, killing a 19 year old passenger.  When I read his name…..I told my husband that my friend/co-worker lives in that county.

Today when I went in to the school for a meeting….I was told it was my friend’s young son, Matt.  I wanted to cry.  I can’t stand the thought of what this sweet family is going through.  The article went on to say that 5 more teenagers were involved and that several were transported by helicopter to different hospitals.  The injuries are serious.

Teacher’s are to report for the new school year tomorrow.  For my friend, she most likely had everything together to do just that….until Friday night at 10:07pm.  Her world took a major turn in the other direction.  Instead of coming in to teacher’s meetings….she will sit at a memorial honoring her boy.

How does this make sense?

Like I said in my other post…. I have to keep reminding myself,  “God is in control”!  Somehow I have to see or trust that this was part of His eternal plan.  It just hurts so deep.

Father,

I cannot even come up with words that seem adequate.  Help her.  Hold my dear friend, Ginger and her family as they come to grips with a loss that stings so painfully.  Only you, God can heal these broken hearts.  Surround them with the love and care that they need right now.  Make your glory known to all involved in this very sad situation.

Amen
