Hungry fish….thirsty dog!

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I really wanted to show you how crazy my fish behave when I feed them. But instead…..I obviously need to give this dog more water!

PETA people: DO NOT COME TO MY HOUSE AND SPRAY ME WITH A HOSE OF POWER WATER!!!!
I actually do take extra good care of all my pets! Seriously! πŸ™‚

Even when the storm comes…

I am washed by the water. Even when the earth crumbles beneath my feet. I am washed by the water. (lyrics by Need To Breathe)

I’ve been thinking… there’s a strange connection to my life and storms. Last night, after cooking an amazing meal for my hubby and then totally rocking it all out with Angel Food cake and homemade caramel icing. A storm hit! A wing-dinger of a storm. One of those trees blowing down and lights out kind. Yes, you guessed it….our electricity was knocked out! FOR THE WHOLE NIGHT!!!

And it was hot! And miserable! And boring! And I could go on!!!

I also had a major headache. It was a rotten evening! I went to bed. But my mind….it stayed up, thinking!

I’m just like the electricity and storm. When things get rough in my life….I shut down. Instead of plugging into Him…..I disconnect! I wander around trying to figure out how to keep my head from going under. More than electricity, I don’t want to be without Jesus!

Thank you Lord for the very clear reminder! Also, thank you for keeping my electricity on tonight when the weather turned worse than last night!

Make a plan, Stan

We’ve been talking at my house. Yea, we do that often. But lately….it’s about our middle child’s future. She’s going into her senior year in high school this fall. It’s a harsh reality! I’m filled with the usual mama woes as I come to grips with it. College is literally one year away for her. Whaaa? How’d that happen?

This past week, she has gone to Cedar Point in Ohio with her choir group for a rockin good time and she’s managed to almost complete two high school courses at summer school. In one week! She is motivated, serious like! I’m really proud of her. Oh, and she’s searching for a paying job. Teens like money. πŸ™‚

I don’t like to be pushy (even though I am) about every little detail of my kids lives. But, I’ve felt really concerned about her future college. I keep getting little reminders of certain Christian schools in our state. I don’t know that any of them will be on her radar screen. I can only guide her and pray that God would make it perfectly clear to her “where” it is HE wants her to go. Help, Lord!

This next year is going to fly by. I’ve played this game before (thanks to Sweetboy). I need just as much direction as she does. God, I’m completely at your mercy. Why can’t these things be easier to figure out?

A peek into A.D.D.

If you’ve ever wondered….what it’s like to live with someone who’s afflicted with ADD/ADHD. You can take a peek into my life right here. Since it’s summertime, my kids have pulled out the bikes to ride during the boring day. The problem? To put them back away…..someone has to pull out my suburban from the garage.

My family…is kinda lazy. Mama don’t lie. We’d rather step over stuff than put it where it came from. Disgusting, huh? Well, that’s just us. We’re animals!

Last night, it was decided that Ally (who is taking summer classes) would take hubby’s car to school this morning. Hubby would take my suburban. My youngest had parked my bike behind the suburban in the garage and closed the door. She came inside announcing to EVERYONE that she put the bike behind the car…DO NOT FORGET TO MOVE IT!!!!!

Get the picture? My family….is also pretty accident prone. We forget stuff and well, destroy it. It’s all part of that ADD/ADHD genetic makeup. People with this ….. whatever you want to call it, should make an extra $20,000 a year in their salaries just for replacement costs of all the stuff they have to purchase each year. Again! πŸ™‚

When I woke up this morning. My sweet baby had stuck sticky notes all over the house for her dad to see. She was so worried that he’d hop in the car and back up without moving my bike….she put reminders everywhere. Just in case!

She is so funny! I was only able to get a few pictures. She is also pretty creative!

The good news…..he moved the bike before leaving. Yay! Thank you Miss Gates. You’re a handy little reminder-er!

A posting machine

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Yea, when school was in session and I was beat to death tired every evening…..I told myself that soon I’d be a posting machine!

LIES!

All of it! BIG FAT LIES!!

I’ve been too tired, busy, uninterested and out of great blabbing ideas to write a thing! Sorry blog friends….all 3 of you. I stink!

Maybe soon the spark to say something of deep value will return and I will blow your socks off. Until then……I’ll just stick close by waiting on some sweet inspiration!

Oh, today. I went on the annual book club/school library field trip. I’m the official driver. It is a great outing. Me + Books + someone else’s money = LOVELY

We had a great time. Lunch at Panera Bread and then a stroll through a real live genuine mall (that wasn’t an outlet or the boring mall in Columbus). Let’s just say……we were in hog heaven!

I know……we need a life, huh? πŸ™‚ See why I’m struggling to find writing material? Nuttin’s happening!

It’s official!

No more 2009-10 school year! Graduation has come…and gone! Yeehaw! Congratulations to all of you! I pray that each of you find your calling and live life to the fullest!

Leaving behind high school and all it’s drama is a huge step. Nobody can really tell you how different life will be when you’re out of school. You just have to experience it for yourself. πŸ™‚

So, best wishes to those who are entering the REAL WORLD! This is where the rubber meets the road…..literally!

Now is where you figure out….what’s really important to you. Choose wisely in everything you do. You only get one chance to make this the best life ever.

I’m going to miss so many of you!
