Just Do It

October 4th, 2011

I’ve had a very interesting discussion with my son tonight.  After a little rant (me venting my frustration) about a certain high school student NOT doing class assingments, he explained to me her thinking.  Which is good, I suppose.  Because, otherwise I envision laziness and irresponsibility to be the problem and that makes me crazy mad!

I’m driven, hardworking and obnoxiously anal about EVERYTHING!!  Can you tell?

I suffer from a sick inability to ‘loosen up and let live’ around my house.  I wish for my people to be the best they can be and if they’re slacking…..I feel success slipping away and I hate it!  I guess it’s all psychological for me.  I wasn’t allowed to be lazy or neglectful and  I was scared of consequences.

I wanted to please.  I still do.

I don’t think I’ll ever understand the ADD mind.  No matter how long I’m surrounded by them….I’m just not wired to get it.  Luckily for them (and me) God doesn’t need me to understand it.  That’s not my job.

For such a time as this…..He has placed these people in my life and trusted me with their hearts.  What I do with them is up to me.  So, instead of beating them up with my frustration and harsh words–I think I’ll choose to BUILD THEM UP & REMIND THEM JUST HOW AWESOME/UNIQUE THEY ARE!

Just the way GOD made them to be.

Lord,

I’m sorry for the pressure I put on my loved ones.  Help me to focus on what is most important, YOU!

Amen

COURAGEOUS

October 3rd, 2011

I’ve loved the other movies by Sherwood Bapist. So it’s no surprise that I now love this one too! I’m not kidding when I say, YOU HAVE TO GO SEE THIS MOVIE! Take plenty of Kleenex and be ready to see your own life in these characters.

I’m convinced that God is always at work in my life and yours. I’ve experienced His goodness and mercy. There have been times when I was at my lowest and He rescued me. Times when I thought there was no way out. God has always made a way.

In the movie, you’ll see how God can change lives FOREVER! If we will only trust Him. I know that He is the only reason for who I am today. After watching Courageous this weekend…..I’m inspired to love Him more and to obey His call on my life as a wife and mom.  I can be courageous too.

Just go. You’ll be so glad you did.

One Down…One To Go

October 1st, 2011

Someone found and purchased a car ALL BY HIMSELF!!

Not only did he find what he was looking for it was in his price range. It’s amazing what praying about your needs will do. God knows….and he blesses. After searching the world over, he had just the car IN THE SAME TOWN as us RIGHT BESIDE OUR INSURANCE company. Convenient!

But that’s not all– God knew the needs of the seller too. He lives in another town and commutes to work (in our town). He’s the only one left (in his family) still in America. The rest of his family is serving as missionaries in the Ukraine. He needed to sell his vehicles in order to tie things up here to join them.

Hello, God thing? Definitely!

Lord,
You NEVER stop! You bless, you share, you give and then you just do it all over again. Thank you for always having our best interest and loving us even with the daily needs that seem silly. My heart is overflowing.
Amen

~~I can’t wait to see what God has in store for my sweetgirl who has PATIENTLY waited for her car. Hopefully, this week…sister! 🙂

My Favorite Day

September 30th, 2011

Everybody loves Friday, am I right? It’s my favorite day of the week. It holds no special power other than it marks the end of the work-week and who doesn’t love surviving another hard week at the office? Let’s face it, weekends are for fun and relaxation! Both of which….I am a professional!

My weekend will be spent car searching. It’s finally time to make something happen for both Gavin and Ally. If you’ve done any car shopping lately, you know everything is sky-high in price. What happened to getting a decent car at affordable prices? 🙁

It’s also fall in Indiana AND THE LAST DAY OF SEPTEMBER!! Can you believe that? Me either! October is birthday month for hubby and me. Seriously? I thought I just had one. hehe! Oh the 40’s….they seem to be on fast-forward!

Make sure to enjoy yourself this weekend. It’s too beautiful out to stay inside….so GO, DO SOMETHING FUN AND EAT FALL FOODS!! I sure will.

Be Careful Little Mouth

September 29th, 2011

Nothing seems to sting like the words that come out of our mouths. Especially when it’s from a loved one. Words have power. They can build you up (Eph 4:29) or they can tear you down (1 Thess. 5:11). I’ve been guilty of wielding my tongue for both. I regret every misuse of the opportunities God has given me to build another up.

Why is it so easy for us to tear another down? What is inside our hearts that creeps up to our tongue? Oftentimes, we use sarcasm to send out little zingers. We mask meanness behind jokes and we hurt senselessly.

After an incident at the dinner table recently….I realized just how large the problem was in my family. Each of us pounce on opportunities to wound one another. Maybe not intentionally, but certainly with some sort of intelligent knowledge.

The problem sin had to be addressed.

I went to bed with a heavy heart. My family loves one another. They love other’s outside of our family too. But HEART CONDITIONS are not what they should be. It’s time for a clean-up.

This post by Suzie Eller sums up how I’m feeling right now. Maybe you can relate. I pray for you that (like me) we can do the heartwork necessary to use our words to love and care for others. Beginning right now!

NOTE–This post was written by the same Mom that wouldn’t let her toddlers watch The Rugrats!

I’m Stumbling

September 28th, 2011

I do not need anymore distractions in my life.  Especially when they come in the form of computer time.  I’m somewhat of an addict with my netbook.  Some people love their iphones….I love my computer!

I’ve battled the vortex of Blogging, Facebook, Pinterest, Ebay and even online shopping/surfing.   During my “time” online I would see Stumble Upon icons everywhere and wonder…..what is that?

Yea, I’ve figured it out now and  I LOVE IT!!

It’s addicting (of course) and a great way to find stuff that people like me (narrowminded little safe types) wouldn’t normally see.  I tend to “hang” out in the same circles, like in real life. So, I miss stuff! Not anymore, baby.

Now I just need a few more hours in my day to STUMBLE around the internet world.

Have you heard of this magical phenom?

What is Stumble Upon?
It’s a cool way of surfing around the web with just one click. Instead of searching for something particular (say like in google) SU randomly selects neat things that are interesting. The range is unending. You fill in topics that interest you (at the beginning) and it selects items geared towards that topic. Check it out!
