Sickness Takedown

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Last week was a rotten week for my family! Sickness invaded 3 of the 5 of us. (I was not one of them) Hubby started feeling crummy on Super Bowl Sunday. He lounged around sort of hacking a snotty cough and fever. Then Gates hit rock bottom with a sore throat and a slew of other miserable symptoms. It was an all out attack!

On Monday morning, I received a text from my college boy….and he was feeling horrible! I figured he had the same bug as the other’s and told him to juice up, take some med’s and rest! (I really thought this whole illness stuff would SOON PASS)

By Friday, I was ready to move out. Hubby was still in bed and feeling horrible. Gates was down and couldn’t get up (she’s still glassy-eyed and feeling icky). Gavin came home on Saturday so he could go see the doctor first thing Monday morning. I know he was sick because he messaged me TO COME GET HIM! As in, drive to Bloomington and pick him up.

My boy….is independant and never far from his car. I knew not to dilly-dally! He needed “home”! Hubby talked him into trying to make it home and he did. But soon crashed and slept for hours….and hours. When I tried to feed him, he just shivered and left the table…to sleep.

After a complete check-up with our family doctor, he diagnosed him with Mono. I don’t know whether to be relieved or concerned. They call it the kissing disease (and since he’s not got a sweety to smooch) and he’s smack dab in the middle of a heavy college load. I can’t help but feel a little stressed for him. I understand this dude can linger and really mess up your life as you know it. πŸ™

He drove back to IU last night after having a delicious dinner (made by his sister Ally) of lasagna. {Happy Valentine’s Day to us} Now, he’s trying to bounce back and rest in order to be healthy again. Poor dude!

I’m thankful that sickness isn’t a normal part of our family. We all tend to be fairly healthy, usually. It reminds us to slow down and take it easy when it does hit us. Hopefully, the bug/flu/ick hasn’t attacked any of you. Be careful of germy people and WASH YOUR HANDS!

NOTE: This message is brought to you by a mama….sick and tired of seeing poor loved ones feel horrible! Stay healthy, people!

I LOVE YOU!

For some it’s easy to spit out those words. Other’s struggle to say them. Words aren’t the only way to say I love you. Actions speak louder than words (at least that’s what I’ve heard). If you love someone are you telling them? Are you living like you do? Do you treat the people you love with kindness and care?

I hope so.

A man falls in love through his eyes, a woman through her ears.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPPY

Friday, February 11th, 2011

It’s another birthday for someone I love in my family! My hubby’s father turns another year older and of course a whole lot wiser today. I won’t reveal the number….cause it’s so gigantic! hehe! πŸ˜‰

But I will say this…..he’s the best dad and grandfather a family could have! Thank you Poppy for always making us laugh (even though you don’t mean to) and giving us someone to sorta pick on. We love how you take such good care of all of us. You do stuff and never complain. We love that about you!

I hope that your day is filled with happiness and maybe even a yummy meal. Sorry we can’t be there to celebrate your birthday in style. We’ll have some time together in the close future to make up for all the distance between us!

We love you & miss you!

I might need help

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

I’ve just been told of some dangerous information. Well, dangerous to me anyway. One of my co-workers is THE RESCUER of all things animal in my community. She is constantly looking for homes for different pets. I have tried to keep my distance because I’m one of those WEAK people that impulsively takes on sweet little animals that I do not need!

The word is she has just gotten a litter of SNOODLES?!

Schnauzer and Poodle? Never heard of them. All I know is that I have a poodle and I’ve had a schnauzer. I’m almost beside myself at the prospect of even seeing one. I just don’t know if I can keep myself from scooping one up for my very own.

SOMEBODY STOP ME!!!

And let me know….if you’ve ever seen one too. K?

Looky looky….I got a Nooky!

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

I didn’t want him to buy me one! Really! I wanted to WIN ONE! But he’s ADHD and being impulsive is high on his weakness list.

Today, as I pulled into my garage….I saw a box at my front door! By the time I made it inside to get it, it didn’t exist. When I asked around (to the two very smiley teenagers) no one knew what in the world I was talking about. Uhh, ok!

While I was slaving cooking dinner, I ran into my room for my cellphone and found it laying on a pink “thing”. I was in a hurry so I just grabbed the phone and ran back to the kitchen. I thought for a nano-second about whatever that was….mmm, pink book? Hmm!

After dinner, we were sitting around talking and I mentioned the secret box and everyone giggled except hubby. He said, “If you only paid attention to what your cellphone was sitting on top of…” I jumped up and ran for the bedroom because I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THAT WAS!

MY OWN NOOK! YAY, ME!!

He promises that he had already purchased it before I blogged the DON’T BUY IT warning! Yea, ok. Whatev!

Thank you Honey! I love it! Can’t wait to drive you crazy trying to learn how to use it. And it’s so pink and pretty! πŸ™‚

Beautiful..that’s my life

No matter how I yucky up my life…..or how many times I fail and mess up. He always makes something beautiful out of it.

Thank you, Jesus!
