I really want to blog! Seriously! I want to be able to SIT DOWN and write out some deep thoughts. I have so much to say and I even had my courage up tonight to really say some stuff that I’ve been holding back on.

I was feeling frisky! Or is it free? Either way, I was planning on letting it spill out on my blog post! But, then I had a kid that needed help with an essay for English. Yea, total buzz kill! For sure! Instead of sharing my heart of heart feelings…..I helped come up with biblical comparisons for the novel Lord of the Flies.

{Um, hello…..creepy sad story!!}

So, it’s settled. I go to bed and sleep with the angels. I can’t be up any later pounding on the keys of my pink pal. The Holy Spirit has interrupted and sidetracked me to other things. Things that I clearly needed to do more. Thank you, Lord!

Maybe soon I’ll get my courage up and write what’s going on in my wild heart! It may take some time…..I’m still grappling with how to just say it!
Until then, I’ll rest in knowing God has a plan and a time for everything! Including blog posts!

An Enchanted Evening

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

The theme for prom….was not coincidental! The evening really was a night of enchantment! Everyone buzzing with excitement and dressed in their most beautiful attire. It proved to be an event to remember!

For our community, we were under rainy weather watch. Believe it or not, the entire day went by minus the predicted storms. As we were driving home at 2:30am (from after prom) rain drops finally began to fall! {thank you, Lord}

Here’s the evening in pictures. Remember to see the whole photo, just click on it! 🙂

It appears….everyone had fun! Even the prom slaves! 🙂
What a great way to end junior/freshman year, right girls? 21 more days!!! Woohoo!

O How I love Thee

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

I’m speaking of my hubby!  I love him!  He’s filled up my love tank today and I just can’t keep it to myself!  He was “speaking” my love language and that’s not always easy to do.  He and I are complete opposites when it comes to a love language.  I like A) acts of service and B) quality time.  He likes A) words of affirmation, B) physical touch and  C) gifts.  Figuring out these differences has changed our lives!

Thank you….Dr. Gary Chapman!

The book is a MUST READ!  I know I’ve surely bragged about it before.  The Five Love Languages should be required study before any couple ties the knot!  It’s that good!  Many marriages could be saved….if couples could just learn what it takes to make their partner feel loved.

Everyone is not the same!

Today, hubby was showering me with love and I can’t help but feel compelled to love him back!  Thanks Honey!  You’re the best!

—He mowed our very yucky yard!  Pollen is at an all time high.  But he didn’t let that stop him.  He even weedeated!  Wow!  It looks so nice now!

—He helped me wash the BIG dog, Maggie!  She was a dusty dirty mess.  He stood alongside me and scrubbed her clean.  I know she is thankful too.  Smelling good gets you lots of extra lovin!   🙂

—He changed a lightbulb in our main bathroom.  This is huge!  You actually have to climb up high and unscrew a weird light fixture to get to the bulb.  It was tedious!  But he knows  we need to see (3 chicks share that busy bathroom!)

—He vacuumed the laundry room!  I’m so glad!  The fuzz, dust and hair gunk on the floor makes me anxious.  It accumulates so fast!  Bleh!  Grosses me out!

—For the last few days….he’s sat with me and just let me share what’s going on in my life.  Which ain’t always purty!  I’m quite the drama queen and sometimes I think “woe is me”.  He listened and didn’t try to tell me what to do or to get over it!  Man, I needed that!

—He also remembered to take the garbage cans to the road for pick-up today!  I appreciate that since he’s really busy with work and doesn’t always have the time to do this stuff.  Our cans were full too (pick-up is once a week).

I’m happy that he loves me in my favorite languages.  It really does make a difference!  Thank you babe!  You’re the best!

I love you!

I’m becoming my mother

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Lately, I’ve been a little grumpy!  Maybe grumpy isn’t really the word…..anxious or stressed might fit better.  I’m snappy and sharp!  I respond to the simplest things in a harsh tone.  My kids are starting to make those faces that I used to make when my mom was being mean.  I get it!  I’m not being the kind of mom they really deserve.

I’m becoming my mother!

Now, as I look back at my teen years….I can’t help but come to some much wiser conclusions to what my mother’s problem could have been.  Life is stressful and teenagers are difficult to raise!  I’m not blaming my behavior off on any of my kids (I own it, people)…..but lack of cooperation from them can really set off an already ticking time bomb.  I can only imagine what “stuff” was hanging over my mom’s life.  Things happen that rob us of our peace and sometimes our joy!

I realize that nearing the end of school makes for some high stress days.  But I just can’t get over how intense they seem to be the older I get.  The students and staff alike are all buzzing with the “long year blues”.  I have a bad case myself.  I CANNOT wait for June 2nd!  I need a break!

In the meantime, I have to get a grip!  My family and students need me to take a chill pill.  It’s as if I’m stuck in a perpetual PMS warp.  I want out!  Help!

Lord,

You know me.  I’m not a grouch by nature.  I like happy.  I like fun.  I like my life.  But it seems like I’m spinning on a wheel of frustration.  Everything is overwhelming me.  Help me focus and relax.  Give me a spirit of peace and renew my heart-a-tude!  I need you…..every hour!

Amen.

PS-I need to call my mom and tell her how much I love her!    🙂

It’s tradition

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

It’s official!  All three of my teenagers have been selected to serve as Prom Pages at our high school.  This is quite an honor!  Every single year, freshman students cross their fingers and hope that they are chosen to serve as mere slaves at the junior prom.  It’s the only way…..they will see Prom until it’s their turn to go.  So to call it exciting….is an understatement!

Gavin was the first in our family to serve (duh, he is the oldest!).    Each is nominated by students from the junior class and then put on a list where EVERYONE gets a chance to vote on the list of students.  It’s a cool process!  One that really says something about each student nominated.  They are peer chosen and every year….it’s a great group of kids.

When Ally was chosen, Gavin was a junior.  Now it’s Ally that’s a junior and Gates is the freshman.  We’ve just got ourselves a tradition!  Which is really cool because I always work at prom….so I get to enjoy the night with my kids!  Yay!  Now, prom is just 4 days away and the excitement is contagious.  The entire school is buzzing!  I can’t wait to post pictures of Ally in her dress and Gates in her page clothes!

Spring is in the air

Poppy, Gavin & Nana

We’ve had a great week! Hubby’s parents have been in town for a visit and it’s been fun in spite of our still having to work and go to school. While they were here, Ally and Gates were in the school musical and IU’s spring choir concert was the same week. Oh and a bonus event…..Ally’s Touch of Class group performed for the First Christian Church senior adults. So they were able to see that too!

WOW!  The weather was beautiful and the trees have their leaves again.  It was also Sassafrass Festival weekend. Nana and Poppy went down to see how life was in the “old” days! Haha! We skipped out on that excitement! Been there, done that!

Now the grandparents are gone and life is quiet around our house. The upcoming weekend holds such excitement….it’s PROM!!! Ally has the most beautiful dress! Everything is falling into place, hair appointments on Wednesday & Saturday morning….flowers arranged, tickets bought, t-shirts ordered and dreams abound. Everyone is so excited!

Even me!

It’s almost time for my Sweetboy to move out of his dorm!  Just over a week and he’ll be home!  It’s been a fun first year at IU.  I’m so thankful he’s loving school and all that comes with it.  I just hope he likes working all summer…   🙂
