Our last hoorah!

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

Every summer we end our freedom with a trip to Cincinnati for The Beach Waterpark. It’s our way of saying SUMMER ROCKED!! Even if the reality is that our summer sucked! We like to force ourselves to believing that we live the high life even if we’re just scraping by. 🙂

During the month of June is usually when I buy the tickets. Our local radio station hosts a once-a-month auction where they discount items to be sold in a jiffy.

Yes, I’m #587 and I can dial in a New York minute quick! Especially for some cheap tickets to a waterpark or a $10 giftcard to a coffee shop! Woohoo! I’m all about the bargain, people! Ok, I’m the original cheapskate lady {sorry Mary Hunt}! It’s for the children….mmmk?

Of course I have photos! I’m even going to let you see me in my fatgirl swimsuit (oh the horror). Enjoy!

And we capped it all off with a great meal at Red Robin! Wow, it was really delicious!

THE END!
Seriously, summer’s over! Back to school on Thursday….dangit!

Hopeful

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

It’s almost time to go back to school. Yesterday, I received a call from a supervisor who called to give me my new assignment for the upcoming year. It ended up being a different job than what I was told last week {at Wally world} by the head supervisor over our department. Immediately, I felt anxious! It was as if I stepped back a few months and picked up all the burdens and stress that I felt as the school year was coming to an end. So much had happened during the year. It was a rollercoaster of changes and insecurities.

I had prayed that I wouldn’t have to feel that way in the new year. Hopelessness and stress seemed to be my ball-n-chain last year. I couldn’t mentally take it….again! So, I questioned myself. How can you do this? Is there a way to feel secure (even when your job takes twists and turns) and trust that God is in control of everything? He is in control, right? Yes. He has a plan and I want to be a part of it.

I’ve had a little hope infusion thanks to a sweet Proverbs 31 blogger Melissa Taylor. God led me right to her Top 10 Ways You Can Choose Hope and Claim Peace post! Wow, what an inspiring boost for my spirit! It was as if she wrote it just for me. Thanks Melissa! I feel inspired to even make my own list! And to actually refer to it during the tense times that are sure to be ahead.

1) Refuse to worry. God has a plan. Trust Him.

2) Don’t take everything personally. If I feel attacked, refer to #1.

3) Count my blessings. Being thankful changes all attitudes.

4) Capture my thoughts. 2 Cor. 10:5, Proverbs 4:23

5) Rest in Christ. Read, pray & obey!

Satan is a master deceiver. He wants me to feel overwhelmed and hopeless. So, I’m putting on a new attitude. I’m changing my hopeless to hopeful!

Lord,
I’m excited about my future. I know you have a plan to prosper me and not harm me. Help me to live outloud for you. Let those around me see you in me through my words, actions and behaviors.
Amen.

Camping Adventure

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

It’s just our style to get craaaaaazy at a campground! You can judge us if you want. We don’t care! We’ve not had a vacation this summer nor the last….and spending a weekend at the lake was better than a sharp stick in the eye. So…if you dare, take a look at our get-a-way on Lake Monroe!

We are thankful for some much needed time away from home. Going away always reminds me to be thankful for a nice home with amazing beds to lay my pretty CLEAN head! For that…..I’m blessed!

Gates and I just sharing a snack moment at camperville!

Smiling…even though we look….umm like we’re camping!

Ally & Lizzy happy to be in the shade!

Our trip down to the beach at Lake Monroe!

Our cool dad! Driving us to the fun!

Ally & I before we knew we were golfcart thieves and well, you’ll see..

After we found out we were wanted in 50 states….and couldn’t make it up THE HILL!!! Oh the pushing we did……

Look, I know what you’re thinking…..what is it with this family? Well, if you must know, WE’RE CRAZY!! And we wouldn’t change a thing! We like us! 🙂

HOME SWEET HOME!!!!
