What’s a little Salvia?

Saturday, December 11th, 2010

I would bet that by now you’ve seen the latest awesome video put out starring Miley Cyrus. If you haven’t, you will if you turn on any entertainment or news channel. They all seem to be airing it and scratching their heads (WOW) at the ridiculousness of it. The first time I caught wind of it was on Anderson Cooper’s 360 show on CNN. He was doing a great job of portraying it as “crazy” on his famous RidicuList segment. Again, WOW!

Now, I’ve been doing a little reading and I have to say…..Salvia may be labeled as an herb and “legal”. But who in their RIGHT MIND is smoking that junk? IDIOTS, that’s who! Duh! Are you kidding me? I’m thinking someone might want to jump in here and possibly do a little parenting. Girlfriend is not capable of making good decisions.

Can you say, H E L P ??

It just makes me sick to see another pop star conforming to her surroundings. Isn’t anyone watching out for these kids? As a mom, it makes me feel stressed to the max and it’s not even my kid. Somebody needs to help Miley before it’s another…..Britney, Lindsay, Paris AKA The Party Girls. Seriously, ya’ll.

This video isn’t even shocking to most people. Behavior such as this has become the norm. I’ve heard some defending her actions based on the fact that she’s 18! Huh? Are you for real? Come on! Miley Cyrus may be 18….but she’s still just a kid. And Silvia is junk! Not something healthy to put into your body.

Crazy town!

Interested in Salvia? Go here and read up on this legal herb! Err, yea!

A Word to the Flu

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

Dear Flu Invasion of 2010,

Take the hint! We don’t want you around anymore! You were not welcomed here in the first place. But, since you insisted on “hanging” around….could you move along now? It’s been a few days since I’ve seen real clothes, eaten normal food and spoken to actual PEOPLE! Well, people that weren’t hugging toilets or laying on the bathroom floor moaning anyway. πŸ™ {Poor Miss Gates!}

I’m on my 3rd sick day away from work. I feel completely messed up. I’m not one to “call in” sick. It makes me feel stressed to be home when I know someone else is there trying to figure out my job. Crazy, I know. That’s just how I am [ANAL]! I’ve not had the actual flu that Gates has been suffering with…I’ve been sick with the head cold stuff. A whole different kind of misery. She barfs, I try to aid her and together we have to yell for help from THE DAD (when he was available). Oh the lovely!

The weather here is incredibly cold too. So, staying warm and dry is high on my priority list. Hard to do when you have a REALLY sick kid that can’t control WHAT’S HAPPENING!! πŸ™

I’m hoping she’s on the end of her suffering today. I can work with my sinus’ acting crazy and my head pounding. I just can’t force puny to walk the halls of that great big school when she can’t get from her bed to the bathroom right now. I’m praying for some energy boosters to pick her back up quick.

In the meantime…..I’ve got to get back on duty!

THE END!

Ok, Flu Invasion Monster?

WHITE CHRISTMAS

Saturday, December 4th, 2010

We’ve been a little busy. What’s new, right? No, really busy! For the last few months, we’ve been hitting the streets 3-4 nights a week for musical practice. This weekend is showtime! We’ve managed to get halfway through it (still have tonight and tomorrow’s performances). It’s been interesting…..that’s all I can say.

Well, and lots of fun too! πŸ˜‰

I’ve had so much fun making new friends, hanging out with old ones and doing a show with my sweet girls. It’s been a ton of work and a stealer of our freetime….but the three of us all agree, WE’VE LOVED IT!

The lead actor is a friend of mine and we were discussing the leap of faith it took for him to take on a “musical” (he’s not a big singer). He said, “I like singing in the shower!”. I told him….”Now, you can cross this off your BUCKET LIST!”. hehe πŸ™‚

Who: Jennings County Players
Where: The Park Theatre (downtown North Vernon)
What: The musical WHITE CHRISTMAS
When: Saturday 12/4 @ 7:30pm & Sunday 12/5 @ 2:00pm
Tickets: $8 at the door, $3 for students

Come see us!

Greatest Gift

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

On a day when I feel my world is crumbling down around me….this pops up on my Facebook page.

God
Your love for me is outrageous! You know just how to show me love and tenderness at precisely the right time. Thank you. It’s only because of you that I can do anything.
Amen

Bye, Dude

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

It’s been a great week of hanging out! I consider myself a seasoned professional at it too. I like home! And I like it even better when all my people (my hubby & kids) are there. Having a kid in college takes forever to get used to. I don’t believe you ever get totally used to it…you simply adjust.

Today was the BIG game! Indiana University vs. Purdue. This little rivalry is one for the Indiana history books. He didn’t have a ticket, so he planned to be “home” (his college apartment) to watch it with his roommates. I understand.

So……

He left. But, not before he snagged himself a little Christmas tree. πŸ™‚

Have a great last few weeks of school, son. Study hard, sleep well and BE CAREFUL!! I’ll be praying for you….everyday! I’ll be missing you, all 202.2 pounds of you!
Love, Mom

Oh and WAY TO GO IU!! Way to bring that bucket back home! Yeehaw!

It’s BLACK out there!

I’ve never been a fan of shopping after Thanksgiving! I mean, seriously? Who wants to? Oh wait, lots of folks…..just turn on the news and see. Crowds of pushy shoppers cram their way through the freshly opened doors of stores all over the country. It’s as if you don’t shop today….all the STUFF will be goooooone, forever!

That could be a good thing. I think. What about you?

I didn’t grow up with this shopping tradition. My family always decorated our house for Christmas after Thanksgiving. It never crossed our radar to go out at the crack of dawn….which by the way, is it just me or do they switch these times up to as soon as you put the turkey in the fridge the stores OPEN? It’s like a contest. I think I’ve made my point. I’m not in to win.

Why?

1–I hate crowds! Despise the whole scene. I like people, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t like to shop in complete armored aggressive mode. Not my thing!
2–The deals, really? This just baffles me. While I bet there are some sweet prices on some cool stuff. Is it really that good? The entire month of December is full of sweet deals. I never pay full price for anything I buy…ever!
3–No sleep! I’m a wimp when it comes to missing my rest. I feel horrible, therefore….I will end up treating people awful! Not a good trade-off if you ask me. There is no deal worth missing sleep over unless it is FREE!!!
4–LONG LINES!! Oh no! I can’t even put down in words how that stresses me out! Let’s just say……I’m the most impatient chick on the earth when it comes to standing in a mile long line with crying kids and mean moms. Think: Do not sin in your anger!! Bad scene, people!

{What in tarnation?}

5–My money, gone! It’s no secret! My family budget is pretty much nada. Any extra moola we might have is a luxury at this point. Spending it on Christmas is going to have to be very well thought out. Who can do that in the BF frenzy? Not me. I’ll stick to lists and searching for the best deals on them. {Which I always seem to find}
6–Traffic! Gack! This runs neck and neck with the long lines and pushy fellow shoppers. HORRIBLE!! Not to mention, a tad dangerous. Wouldn’t that just be a great memory for your family….”Mom tragically killed in Black Friday shopping traffic pileup!”? Maybe that sounds a little over the top…but it could happen! Who wants people milling around at their funeral talking about how she had to get to Target for the great deal on 42″ flatscreen tv? Uhh, not me dude!

I can think of so many other things more worthy to do today. My son is home from college, the weather is cold and soon to be snowy and my husband is digging into house projects as I write. I want to go crawl up in the middle of all the fun to be found in staying home.

Good luck to you if you’re one of the many out shopping today. I hope it was worth it. πŸ™‚
