Weekends are for workin!

May 2nd, 2011

Saturday was beautiful here in the land of rain! We actually had nice weather and spent the whole day outside working. Hubby drug out every yard tool we own and went to town. Before long, the rest of us wandered out and observed helped. I wish I could brag about my own contribution to the beautification of my yard but I was a mere supervisor/cheerleader.

Go Team Hubby! πŸ™‚

What to do when everything breaks?

You hire cheap help! πŸ˜‰

And your shade-tree mechanic calls a feller for advice….

Then things get really heated!

In case you’re wondering….they’re burning the old oil buildup out of the carburetor. I hope!

Did a little brick work on our walkway.

While all the work was going on out front…these bums chilled out.

This sweet girl was working on her prom flowers…

Then we woke up on Sunday to this…

It was a busy weekend. On Sunday we hopped out of bed and spent the day with Gavin. Church and moving…in the stinkin rain! πŸ™

Counting down the days until prom this Saturday and still no dress, shoes or final hair decisions! OH THE PRESSURE!!

COUNTDOWN

April 28th, 2011

It just hit me that in one month my #2 baby will be graduating high school! It’s been such a busy year. So many memories. The time has flown by. She still seems like my little girl and I guess that’s how it is for most mama’s. Our hearts are linked forever!

Just the other night my MIL pulled out a stack of pictures. Ally was amazed to see all the family resemblences and old memories of days gone by. She stole one particular photo out of the bunch and put it up in her room. She’s calling it the “Princess Di” photo because she thinks I looked like HRH. It’s a picture of me with baby #1 Gavin when he was just weeks old. Her biggest issue with the picture (besides me looking royal) was that the cute baby WASN’T HER!!! haha.

She is a cracked pot! πŸ˜‰

I’ll have to post the picture soon. Right now, I’m in prom mode! Ally ordered another dress and it’s still not here. PANIC!! Both she and Gates need shoes, jewelry, hair appointments, corasages designed, prom tickets and all of this done in A WEEK!!!! Prom is May 7th, people! If the new gown doesn’t arrive by Monday…..we’ve got a bit of altering to do to dress #1. So, one more thing to that list above! Eeek!

The NEW dress

Whichever she wears…..she will be beautiful!

Now….what am I wearing? Hadn’t thought of that!

Royally Sick

April 25th, 2011

So much to fret about this week…

A) It’s a BLUE week. Which in my life, that means M-W-F are Blue days at my high school. And Blue days are my hard days. Rough classes back-to-back all day long! They nearly kill me. {My head is pounding now and it’s 11:15pm}

B) My hubby left this morning for a conference in Chicago. He will be gone all week. I’ll miss him in every way. I love having him home (most days)! hehe

C) The rain! It is STILL RAINING! Matter of fact, most of the state is under flood warning. I’m beyond sick of it!

D) The Royal Wedding is Friday! I have a job, dear old British royals! How am I supposed to watch the whole shindig if I’m at school? Not only at school…but at a school that doesn’t have ANY television available. We can watch fuzz. And please, don’t say tune in ONLINE….everything IS BLOCKED.
{Yes, sounds like prison. Five more weeks and I’m up for parole!}

You may not feel these things are worth fretting over…..I mean, with all the serious problems our world is facing. Wars, high gas prices, Birther or not?, Glen Beck’s show cancelled…oh I could go on. You probably get it, right? It’s my fret list, ok?

I’m dedicating this to my girl Gates. Fingers crossed, princess?

Rain rain….go away!

April 24th, 2011

It’s been monsoon season here in southern Indiana and I don’t like it! Enough with the 3am wake-ups to tornado sirens! Seriously scary! Especially when grandparents are parked in your driveway in their camper sleeping. Oh who am I kidding…..only Poppy was sleeping.

We had an IKEA trip planned for this weekend and ended up driving through the worst rainstorm ever to get there. Can you see why I might be singing the rain away? Nobody gets in the way of a shopping trip to IKEA!!

We’ve had a great weekend in spite of all the WET weather! Now it’s back to work and counting down the Royal Wedding days! I seriously feel jilted that it’s on Friday! Come on, people! We have no tv service at school. Boo! πŸ™

When the rain won’t stop…go shoot stuff!

All grown up and catching the big one at Bass Pro!

I hope your Easter weekend was a blessed one. I don’t think I’ll ever get over what Christ has done for me…

Hello, Epiphany? Is that you?

April 19th, 2011

I’m minding my own business this evening when a very important “word” comes to me. What was it and who was it from? Well, it was about crummy stuff that happens in life and I believe it was delivered from Jesus.

My hubby hasn’t arrived home from work yet (it’s 9:30pm in the evening) and I’m feeling extra aggravated about it. He calls to tell me he is “FOR REAL this time” on his way home. I tease him that I’m not taking his supper out of the fridge until I ACTUALLY SEE HIS FACE and I mean it!

I have a conversation with my MIL about some life issues and we talk it out like women do. We solve nothing but we both feel better for trying to make sense of things. Life is just that way. Some people live exciting and successful lives and other’s struggle to make the rent. That’s just the way it is…

Back to my epiphany.

I’m thankful for the painful stuff I’ve experienced.

I could go on… but I won’t. I’m glad for all the ways I’ve struggled or suffered. I am me because of it. More than that, I know without a shadow of a doubt…I AM HIS! He loves me and cares about every cruddy thing that happens.

Lord,
You don’t miss a thing. Every little detail of my life is important to you. Thank you for everything.
Amen

JCHS Swim Banquet

April 18th, 2011

Tonight was one of those nights all parents hate. Two children, each having a special event held at the same time in two different locations. πŸ™

Since the weekend pretty much consisted of the musical and Ally…..we didn’t even blink at where we needed to be tonight. Gates worked so hard all swim season. She pushed herself until she accomplished her dream of becoming a “swimmer”! We loved watching her compete and cheering for the whole team.

This was a great experience for her and for our family. Being an athlete takes tons of work and dedication. For all her efforts, we applaud them. Tonight was the cherry on the top!

Yay for you Miss Gates!

Gates & Taylor (thanks for all your encouragement Taylor)
