Living to the Fullest

Tuesday, August 7th, 2018

I guess it’s safe to say that I’m living my best life right now! Yesterday, we finally got our internet installed and I am sucking that 10 MBPS up like a mocha frappe!

Oh, but that’s not all! I’m not a savage!

I hopped on and ordered 7 free days of SLING TV too!

Cause, I’m living my best dang life!

Since the days of packing up my house and sticking it all in storage, I have been a wanderer of sorts. Internet, tv and many of the everyday normal things people use have been luxuries for me. Some days we could watch local tv channels and here & there we would have wifi.

Not on the regular, ever.

Mother’s day 2018 will go down as the worst day of my life as we were traveling across Oregon to reach Washington and I couldn’t even get cell service to receive a call from any of my kids! My stomach hurts just remembering it!

But, hey….I’m not bitter!

I am praising Jesus for internet and a little tv action. It may sound silly but when you’re all alone, far away from everyone you love and live in mostly silence….THIS STUFF IS HUGE!!!

So, what is it that helps you live your best life? Is it access to the world? Or maybe a supportive family member or friend who encourages you? It’s not going to look the same for me as it is for you. So don’t compare.

My advice: Just go live your life. Do it with courage and be careful of overdoing it on the expectations. Nothing will slam your dreams to the ground harder than unmet expectations!

Now, I gotta go. I’m trying to pace myself with all my newfound access! Instead of just binging out on all my fat blessings, I’m taking breaks and doing jumping jacks!

Don’t worry, I’m not addicted to either thing…yet!

Out & About in Wenatchee Washington

We’ve done a bit of exploring, as tourists tend to do.

lr trip

My hubby has been chomping to take my car somewhere dangerous and climb where no man can go. (Ahem, no….I’m not ready to let my car be a victim of an accident! Remember: the new drone?)

So, we did a little climbing up at Yoyo Rock on the Columbia River in Wenatchee.

I know….I see boobies, not a yo-yo. But, hey…whatev’s man!

We took our fellow explorers with us.

The weather was truly glorious!

We had a tailgate picnic while we watched some boaters do a little fishing! They were catching salmon, wall-eye, bass and something I can’t remember. I only recall being a lot jealous! Reminded me of our Canada fishing trip.

The water is icy cold and clear as glass.

Of course we did some kissin’!

The days are dwindling down. We have a few more places to check off our list before we leave to head back to Indiana. Traveling has a way of opening up your mind to dreams of living other places. For me, I think Montana would work. My hubby? Likes Idaho. Hrmph!

I D A H O! Okay, it was an 80mph snap of the state sign…but, still. I believe Montana has all the pretty trees.

ysp 6

Instead of taking off on a romantic anniversary vacation…my hubby and I loaded down our car with camping gear, cameras, hot & cold weather clothing and a bunch of stuff WE MIGHT NEED and hit the open road.

Starting point (Saturday) – Indianapolis, Indiana

Final destination (Wednesday) – Wenatchee, Washington

ysp 7

We had no agenda. Just to go, see and do whatever the heck we wanted to do.

ysp 3

The weather all along the journey was P E R F E C T!

ysp 5

Day 1 we made it to Onawa Iowa and plopped down our tent beside a beautiful lake. No power, no water….but lots of mosquitoes! No problem. I can go without, a little. Just not showers! The campground had a nice shower house that I headed straight for the next morning.

Imagine the irony after my shower when I plugged in my hair dryer and blew the breaker to the whole bathroom. I had to go OUTSIDE and plug in to dry my hair on the porch of the main building. Oh and use my curling iron with no mirror on the porch. I made so many new friends there.

ysp 11

Who can think of doing up a smart hair-do with all these views??

ysp 2

Old Faithful didn’t disappoint. We arrived just in time to have lunch and walk outside to see him blow his stack!

ysp 4

I didn’t get much sleep in Wyoming. I’m blaming it on the fact that we camped in the very last spot where they allow tent camping because of bears. Therefore, I slept with one eye open listening all night long for my impending death by bear attack!

I woke up exhausted!

ysp 10

My dude just snored on through the night.

Yellowstone National Park was fabulous! Beautiful scenery, incredible animals….amazing cool weather. Gorgeous!

We came to the conclusion though that wherever we picked to stop, the crowds seemed to follow. It would get crowded and we would peel out for the next spot!

On our adventure we drove through Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and Washington. Oh my word! I can’t wait to do it again! This land is so beautiful!

In the meantime, I am so excited to be in Washington with family. While I’m not thankful for an unemployed husband – I am very grateful for this free time to explore, think, pray and strategize our next step.

Road Trip 2016!! Rolling on, friends!!

Night Six

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

I’m really not one of those women. You know the ones. The nervous scaredy-cat kind that flip out staying by themselves? No, I’m not like that. I like alone time. I’m a “resty” kind of person. Naps, quiet house and chill time are all positives to me.

Don’t get me wrong. I love my hustle-bustle lifestyle too. My house is busy and full most of the time which probably explains why laying low is so appealing to me. I’m a chameleon. I adapt to whatever season I’m in.

Last night marked the 6th night of sleeping alone without my hubby snuggled close. I can’t complain (hello, military families?)! All I can do is tell you how strange it is for us to be apart this long. We just don’t do this. It’s weird for me to be on my own.

I’ve used my time wisely. My house is clean. The dog is washed smelly good. The meals have been easy (cooking for girls is a piece of cake) and tis the season for McRib deliciousness! So last night we ate like queens. Thank you McDonald’s! I feel guilty living so fancy! πŸ˜‰

Until bedtime.

Then I remember I’m still home alone without the man God gave me. I miss him, even his annoying stuff. I’ve grown accustomed to him being around and bossing me. Hehe! Ok, he tries to boss me. I boss back! Bedtime fills my mind with all the things I need him around to handle.

I have four more nights of listmaking to go. Honestly, I’ll be glad to see Halloween arrive. It’s not because I have a sweet costume to wear either. My hubby & son land SAFELY in Indy (back where they belong) and I will once again have a full nest.

Honey, if you’re reading. Don’t get weird and worry that you have to rush home. We’re fine. Enjoy this time with your family. Live on the edge in the Utopia that is called Wenatchee, WA. Spend some free time having fun with all that God is blessing you with right now. We’ll be back on the LIFE treadmill very soon. You deserve a good break! XO

Now you tell me….Do you like when your hubby travels or do you spend your time missing him?

Goodbye Team Washington

It’s 11:45am. My guys just pulled out of the driveway with grandparents loaded to the hilt for the trip of a Clampett lifetime. It’s been a hectic morning trying to get them out the door. Just goes to show you… You can never prepare enough and trips are hard work. Prayers for them all.

For me (here left behind) it looks like fall break came just in time. I’ve gotten a little too tired and now have a fibromyalgia flare-up to contend with. Boo! My throat is sore, my arms and legs feel as if they’re full of lead and I’m exhausted! So, I’ll be resting while I hold down the fort.

Don’t worry about me though….I’m thinking of making these—–>

Seriously? Homemade TWIX BARS? Somebody, S T O P M E !!!

Happy fall weekend, friends.

Gaylord Opryland Hotel Get-Away

Monday, September 12th, 2011

My wedding anniversary is coming up this week. On Friday, September 16th my hubby and I will celebrate our 22nd anniversary. I can’t believe it’s been that long. It seems like only yesterday (1989). I’m so thankful for our relationship, it gets better every year!

Recently, we took a little trip…just the two of us. Really, he had a work conference to attend and I just tagged along. It’s not something we get to do normally. So when he asked if I wanted to join him, I jumped at the chance. I mean, how often do you get an opportunity to spend a few days at Nashville’s Gaylord Opryland Hotel? I’ll tell ya, never!

It is one of the most exciting places to visit. I love Nashville and this hotel is now on my I WANT TO GO BACK list. Even though hubby had to work while there, I managed to wander around doing things I enjoy. Like sitting by waterfalls to blog and shopping. Yes, they have shopping IN THE HOTEL!! πŸ™‚

Plus, how can you ever get sick of looking at such awesomeness?

Each day we were there, this is where you would find me. By the time I had to leave for home, I had become pretty accustomed to that lounge chair. We were close pals.

One night, this was a special treat hubby found on his way back to our room. He really knows how to win my affection, ya’ll! Chocolate truffles make my heart go all-a-flutter. Which reminds me, you can walk forever around this hotel and still not see everything. It’s gorgeous!

I really don’t know how to put into words how amazing this place is. It’s a one-stop kind of hotel. Once you arrive, you can just stay put. Everything you can dream of is right there for you to enjoy. You never have to leave…for anything.

So, if you’re ever in Nashville and looking for a great place to stay….this is the place. You’ll love everything from the beautiful rooms to the amazing restaurants and the sparkling pools to the buzzworthy shopping. While I didn’t use it, the spa looked pretty awesome too. All of this is neatly wrapped up in a beautiful resort full of waterfalls and gardens. You won’t be disappointed. Trust me.

I have to give Gaylord Opryland Hotel a two thumbs up! I can’t wait to visit again. Maybe it will be soon. πŸ˜‰

Pssst, hello….anniversary coming up! [hint hint]

Thank you for a great get-away filled with wonderful memories.
