Freedom In Christ

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

I’m leisurely waking up this morning to my first day of Christmas break.  I have a few “to do” things on my list but have all intentions of taking it easy and enjoying my freedom.  Thanks to a sinus infection, I have a touch of the yuck to drag around with me.  So, my fun will be limited.  😉

I’ve shared before how tough it is to live far away from family.  Especially when something sad happens.  This morning’s news is shocking.  In the last few months, my husband’s Uncle Bill passed away, his cousin Mildred Ann (his age) and now another cousin Billy (a few years younger than us & Uncle Bill’s son).  I can’t describe how helpless I feel.  My family has to be torn up.

My heart, although 1000 miles away is breaking.

Please pray for my family.  This seems like so much to handle right now, just after losing their dad.

(Left to right) Chris (cousin), Gavin (my son), Don (my hubby), David (cousin), Dean (hubby’s bro), Billy (cousin).

Lord Jesus

I pray for my family in Florida & Washington.  They are hurting and confused, like my own here in Indiana.  Death stings but your promise of eternity reminds us we have glory to look forward to.  Thank you for your death and resurrection that assures me — I have the promise of spending my eternity with you.

Amen

Wednesday Friday

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

Thank you Lord, it’s my Friday!  I didn’t get enough sleep last night and now I’m paying for it.  I have a busy day of finals ahead….but at 3:05, I’m finished!

Oh, bonus score–early payday too!

The disadvantage to that?  I won’t get another paycheck until January 13th 2012!  Boo!  One of my coworker’s told me she’s just ignoring the whole thing.  If she pretends she doesn’t have it, she won’t spend it.  Ha!  Yea, I wish it was that easy!

Before I go.  I’d like to petition prayer for a friend that needs it in a big way.  My hubby received a message that our friend and local Sheriff was attacked last night by two pitbulls.  He was flown to Louisville for surgery.  Serious surgery.  Please lift him up that God would restore him to full health.  He’s had some rough medical issues over the last few years and this is very serious.  He’s also a husband and father to two boys (HS & College).

God bless you, dear reader friends!  Christmas is upon us…..ARE YOU READY?

Queenies On The Run

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Who knew my little 3 day work-week was going to be so hurried and full? Certainly not me! I’m exhausted and I’m only 1/3 of the way there. Gracious!

I made a huge mistake by wearing some goodlooking boots on Monday. I had to run from one end of the school to the other ALL DAY LONG! Let’s just say, my puppies were a barkin! Lesson learned! No wearing sassy boots during finals week, ever again!

I have company coming today from Kentucky. She’s on her way to Illinois and likes to stop part of the way up and rest a while with my family. I’m bummed that I still have to work, but thankful she’s not the kind of guest that can’t handle it. She can snuggle with Miss Lizzy until 3:30. Then we’ll party it up, Miss Stephany!

Today is the staff Christmas luncheon. I likey. There’s always some delicious food and it’s fun to see staff that I rarely run into. I’m beginning to think I need to wear rollerskates. I’m scheduled to the max. I was just thinking  — I wish my bosses could figure out something else for me to do {sarcasm}  while I’m at work. I’m not sure they’re getting their money’s worth out of me. HA!

Can you say, S T R E T C H E D T H I N ?

Ahh, enough about me. 😉

Shoot, I just remembered something else. After school, I had to run to the store. Believe it or not, I stood in line forever (yes, in those darned boots!) while people crawled all over me. It was like CHRISTMAS WEEK or something! hehe!

Don’t forget to slow down ya’ll and enjoy the specialness that is Christmas!

And, Happy Tuesday/Thursday!   Tomorrow is my FRIDAY!  🙂

Weekends Are For Blessings

Monday, December 19th, 2011

Don’t you love great weekends? Me too! I can’t wait to tell you all about mine. It’s been raining blessings here. I hope I can splash some of my yeehaw onto you this Monday morning. On top of the weekend I have three days left until Christmas break, people! I’m walking on a cloud.

Remember my whining about no health insurance and the high cost of hubby’s medication? Well, he needed a refill this weekend and off we went in search of A) a pharmacy that actually had the medication in, B) the best price and lastly C) a pharmacy that was open. After 3 stops, discouragement was starting to knock on the door. Either they weren’t open or they were out of the med’s. Which means, we hit the point of WE’LL PAY ANYTHING!

We almost gave up when we decided to try one more Walgreens across town. Hubby went in and I waited for what seemed forever in the car. He came out and said, “Well, they have it but the price has gone up yet again!”. I thought, of course it has! Then he told me about the tech working who mentioned she was uninsured herself. She said she had a coupon prescription book that she would try on his prescription. The first few didn’t offer any help but then she said, “How about $66?” Surprised, my hubby thought she meant a discount of $66. Oh no, the new cost? $66 BUCKS! That’s a savings of $107.

BOOM! Blessing from heaven!

We went directly to Starbucks and bought her a giftcard! She blessed us, we wanted to say thank you in a fun way! Enjoy awesome Walgreens Pharmacy Tech!

Ally has the cutest HOTPINK Christmas tree in her room. Last week, she noticed her pretty pink lights had blown in random spots. Not cool or easy to find replacements. I searched online and everywhere I found them they were ridiculously high or shipping was crazy. On our journey for something fun at Menards last night….hot pink lights were right there for the taking! Awesome price and NO SHIPPING, ya’ll! SCORE!

12.99 never looked so pretty, right?

Because of my extra day of rest, I took on a few “catch up” projects. I not only wrapped up Christmas….I started a new batch of cold brewed coffee! I haven’t had an iced coffee in months. I forgot about it (that’s part of the process) and cracked up when I came out to this! —->

It appears that my sweet tea loving boy came out to find my set-up in his tea container. He is not a fan of coffee grains in cold water. Go figure! 😉

One more fun part of my weekend was a secret surprise party for my school bestie, Betsy. She’s been through the medical ringer this year. Several months back she had a stroke! I SAID, A STROKE! She’s a young beautiful mama with 2 sweet little darlin’s and she stepped into a territory of life that most her age can’t imagine. By all accounts, it’s a miracle that she is ok and back on the road to a long and healthy life. It was discovered to be a problem in her heart and last month she underwent a procedure where they patched 6 holes! Incredible, right? I totally agree.

Betsy has a great family. Her husband Pat wanted to do something special to celebrate her new healthy life. So he planned a little dinner way out in the country at a great fried chicken place called Stones. I managed to NOT BLAB about it all week long as she and I talk every chance we get throughout the schoolday. We were running late (of course) getting out there, so when we pulled into the parking lot an SUV pulled right up beside us. Imagine how big my eyes got when I realized it was BETSY! Yikes!

It was just getting dark and the windows are tinted on our car so I yelled, “FREEZE”! I slid down in the seat and told hubby to act natural. He was confident she would never know it was us since she hadn’t actually seen his new car. So, he turns it off as they are exiting their car and the light comes on inside our car! I’m serious, ya’ll! It was like a Lucy & Ethel moment! I was shaking like I’d participated in some sort of crime.

We let them walk on in and snuck in behind. It ended up being a great surprise! But man, I will never be late like that again! Fun times.

And the best way to end the weekend? After losing every single game they’ve played all season—THE COLTS WON! Colts Vs. Titans

Yay, Blue! Consider me completely smitten!

Come on, Monday! Come at me! I AM READY!

Do Good Day

Saturday, December 17th, 2011

I’ve managed to be busy all day. So busy that it’s now 10:35pm and I’m waiting on cookies to cool. Priorities, people! I took the day off to catch up mentally and physically from the stress of work. It’s been at peak level lately and I really couldn’t keep going without some sort of refresh-me-day!

So, I did just that.

I woke up, made coffee and sent my new driver off to school. Then, I got busy doing important things; laundry, wrapping presents, shopping online, heating up last night’s pizza and finally making these. ——>

Say hello to my little friends! And I do mean besties!

If you play on Pinterest, at all… there is no way you’ve missed seeing a picture of these dudes. They are everywhere and I just couldn’t stand to see or hear one more remark about their awesomeness.

I had to find out for myself.

My life has been changed. Thank you, Lord for days of rest and crinkle cookies!
Both are heavenly.

Wanna make your own? No problem, I stole borrowed the recipe from Truly Smitten’s blog H E R E !

Last One

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

Today is extra special! My youngest babe is now a legally licensed driver! Meaning, she can hop in any of the four cars parked in my driveway and drive off without anyone with her!

I really hadn’t thought this one through.

MY BABY CAN DRIVE?!! BY HERSELF?

That’s it? No more control! (Like I had some sort of control before today) 😉 Why do these things just sneak up on mama’s? I’m happy having big kids but everytime someone takes a giant leap such as this– it flips me out! I know, I need to get a grip!

Dear Gates
You are such a great kid! From the moment I met you, I knew you were special. God has big plans for you! So DRIVE SAFELY!
I love you
Mom <3
